The Amberley Shopping Centre is located in the town centre of Amberley – at the heart of the Hurunui district in North Canterbury. It is 45 minutes north of Christchurch International Airport on State Highway 1.
Being on a main highway, more than 21,000 cars per day pass the site, making it a popular destination for a pit stop or for locals looking for easy parking to do their grocery shop, pharmacy visit or collect takeaways or a beverage for the evening.
About the Region
Residential development in the Amberley area is currently expanding, with further subdivisions to the north and northeast of the Shopping Centre.
Amberley is historically the commercial centre for the Hurunui District, and home to a number of services including the Hurunui District Council, Hurunui District Library, and a variety of commercial operators.

- Farming of sheep, beef and dairy
- Horticulture of more than 1,500 hectares of grape vines planted principally in Waipara
- Hospitality, including major wineries located in Waipara which in addition to their normal dining facilities play host to concerts and festivals
- Forestry, about 35% of the Canterbury plantation forest area
- Various infrastructure projects which support and stimulate regional growth
- Tourism, and only a short drive to the ever-popular Hanmer Springs Resort.
